L’ABSINTHE

Everything began by a exercise proposed by a teacher of mine, based on a painting that we liked we needed to create something (collage, another painting, photograph..).

I always loved Degas and specially this painting, L'Absinthe, and since my degree is film making the choice was easy, I was going to do a short film based on this painting.

This painting always transmitted to me the sensation of emptiness after a storm, unstable emotions and downfall.

Based on my feelings about it, it was easy to see a story unfold through my eyes like this one. The ups and downs of a relationship that's near the end, the sorrow, the need to hold on to it although it's known that it is a dead end, when people want to hold on so bad to something that just makes you ill, emotional, mental and physically.
