MULTIPLICITY OF BEING

Through my work I talk about the layers that make us human, I assume them instead of hiding it, in this project it's no different.

When I was about 16 years old I was with two older male friends of mine and I was listening to them talking about this one girl that went to arts college and how she went from the quiet nerd girl to super alternative with piercings and “full crazy” as they said, while they were talking kind of joking about her sudden change I was feeling like I admired her and wondering how can change be perceived as a negative thing.

I knew then that I didn’t was going to be the same in a short period of time also. I was flourishing. I was finding myself, exactly as that girl was discovering herself at the time. I could see through everything I was blooming to be but felt constrained about what society was going to think about it.

Now I feel I lived so many lives, as I grow as a human being I go through enormous changes and now I know that’s okay, there’s a lot of different sides to me and that’s the wonderful, yet confusing at times, part of being a human in constant growth.

This moment stuck with me forever and led me to want to create upon it.

We are multilayered, strangely complex and that’s the beauty of it.
